West Virginia Nursing Home Neglect At the end of the year 2002 there are an estimated 10,157 residents combined in all of the nursing homes within West Virginia.  Statistics have also shown that one resident for every three nursing homes in the United States are cited for many different kinds of abuses committed against its patients every year.
